Volunteering at its peak among PAU students and city youth

The golden jubilee Kisan Mela at PAU tomorrow will witness a unique gala event of volunteering by its students. They will be organising 8 different activities. These include
Shabad Langer,
Blood group testing,
Flash mobs to promote reading,
eco-friendly and cleanliness drive
, healthy literature sale,
street plays against drug abuse,
teaching street kids and
spreading awareness about minority scholarships.
As per the Gurbani sermon – ਲੰਗਰ ਚਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ langer challe gur shabad – the students will be gifting a book – ਜੀਵਨ ਬਦਲ ਗਏ Jivan Badal Gae’ published by Sukrit Trust to the visiting farmers free of cost.
Penned by eminent mathematician, Dr Mohan Singh, the book carries real life inspirational anecdotes which motivate the reader to adopt a righteous path in life bereft of drugs and depression.
More than 20 volunteers will be asking the farmers certain questions to make Punjab prosperous and will gift them the book.
The students and members of Sukrit Trust will also organise Flash mobs on the entire mela route to bring home the message of book reading culture among the rural masses.
Under the auspices of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, the students will test the blood groups of farmers free of cost and inculcate in them the spirit of blood donation.
In collaboration with EcoSikh, they will lead the movement for bringing awareness about cleanliness and environment protection.
Volunteers of Sukrit Trust will emphasis on community service and highlight their project ‘Edufriends’ in collaboration with NGO Éclair for doing teaching sewa for the street kids.
Similarly street plays against drugs and Minority Scholarships by Baru Sahib will also be a major attraction for the farmers.
