Bani Di Chabeel gets massive response e-chabeel also organised Ludhiana-May 25 To commemorate the martyrdom day of fifth guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji, a pan-India NGO, Sukrit Trust mobilised the youth and masses to organise Chabeels of Bani at about 83 places in the city and surrounding areas. According to Chief co-ordinators Dr. Mandeep Kaur Khalsa and S. Manpreet Singh Sukarni, more than 25 volunteers dressed in a uniform of ‘Thandi Mithi – Bani Di Chabeel’ descended on platform number 1, 2 and 3 in the early morning. They distributed a book – Sukhan Di Manni (Sukhmani Sahib – Swal Jwab) to the passengers of all incoming and outgoing trains. It is noteworthy that Sukhmani Sahib is the most popular bani composed by the fifth guru. The volunteers exhorted passengers to read and contemplate Sukhmani Sahib and also prayed for their safe journey. It was a totally overwhelming and exclusive scene at the railway station. Bani (scriptures) instead of Paani (water) was the buzz word. One could see people of all ages and communities glancing at the contents of the book at the different platforms. Another team of the volunteers started the Chabeel at Bus stand under the leadership of Manpreet Singh Sukarni. The uniformed dedicated youth, mostly students immediately spread to various counters and entered the buses ready to depart. They distributed the books and exhorted the people to read and understand the meanings of Sukhmani Sahib. Water quenches the physical thirst but Gurbani quenches the spiritual thirst and takes one to the stage of bliss. At various busy crossing in the city, including the Bharat Nagar chowk, the volunteers distributed CDs of Nitnem Gyan to bus drivers and auto rickshaws. Apart from this, Bani Di Chabeels were organised by about 54 shopkeepers and at about 22 Gurdwaras. The students of Punjab Agricultural University, were entrusted with the sewa at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Deep Hospital etc. They prayed for the well being of patients and presented them the distinctive gift of shaheedi gurpurab. While the patients and their attendants were all praise for such activity, they felt comforted that the community remembered them at their hour of difficulty. A total of 150 volunteers distributed Bani Di Chabeel at 83 places in the city and surrounding areas like Khanna, Ahmedgarh, Halwara, Mullanpur etc. They distributed more than 10,000 books and CDs. News of similar chabeels are pouring in from Saharanpur(UP), New Delhi, Jammu and Chennai etc. Another unique feature of this year was e-chabeel where anyone who clicked the link at Sukrit website and filled the address will be sent the Sukhmani book in English, Hindi or Punjabi free of cost, not even the postal cost will be charged from them. A lot of people all over the country and abroad opted for e-chabeel too. Social sites were used to spread the message of e-chabeel by various passionate people.v
